My practice is now offering teletherapy/telehealth sessions. Here is some information to further explain teletherapy/telehealth:

What is teletherapy/telehealth?

Telehealth is the long-distance delivery and management of health care services through telecommunication technologies. Teletherapy is the online delivery of professional services, including mental health services, through high resolution live video conferencing. This modern technology connects clinicians and clients together, no matter the distance that they are apart, through two-way live video. It can also be referred to as telepractice.

What equipment do you need to access teletherapy?

  • Webcam which is built into most computers, tablets/iPads, and smartphones
  • Computer or tablet/iPad or cell phone
  • Headset or earbuds to improve sound quality (optional)
  • High speed internet connection

How easy is it to use?

It is very easy to use. My teletherapy platform sends an email reminder to you 10 minutes before the beginning of the session. In the reminder is an embedded link. When you click on the link, it brings you right into the video teletherapy session.

Is teletherapy effective?

Yes. Teletherapy has been used in the United States since the late 1990s. Numerous research studies have shown that, for most clients, it is as effective as face to face therapy and generates high satisfaction ratings.

Will the teletherapy session be confidential?

Yes. The platform that I use is HIPPA-compliant and offers a high level of confidentiality as well as meets high level security guidelines. However, in order to ensure confidentiality in your home/space, you will need to find a private area to talk.
